3 Things To Achieve Biggest Social Media Impact Possible

Loved this post by Oglivy “Time for Brands to Adopt a Comprehensive Social Media Strategy (and Why You Need One)“ which highlights three things a company needs to do to achieve the biggest impact possible with Social Media Campaigns:

  1. Define their social brand — just how can they and should they participate in social media that is authentic to them. Not every company should put their 1,666 blogging employees in an aggregator like Microsoft.6 Not every brand should enlist women to tell men how they can score like Axe does via Facebook.
  2. Decide how to move your organization to adopt social media best practices via an Enterprise Change Framework.
  3. Establish a Marketing & Communications (Marcom) Social Media Engagement Framework outlining the best way for the organization to plan marcom programs.

10 Ways You Can Managing Your Social Media Profile More Effectively

  1. BRAND - Decide on a brand and use it consistently on the web and in your social media spaces so it’s easy for you and your target audience to remember.
  2. SOCIAL MEDIA EMAIL ADDRESS – so when you go on holidays manning the social media storefront can be delegated, and so you can filter it into a special email folder, so you can look only once per day. Perhaps a gmail account as you’ll need one to
  3. BLOGS / RSS NEWS FEEDS — so social media spaces can automatically syndicate it.
  4. SCHEDULE TIME IN YOUR SCHEDULE – get it done
  5. PROFILE MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE – to watch your pages, those you manage and your competitors
  6. COMMUNICATIONS PLAN — what do your customers want? what will they share?
  7. RESOURCES – what do you have now, what is available for free on the net
  8. ALLIANCES – who do you know, win/wins?
  9. EDUCATE YOURSELF – fast track your success and avoid fatal errors.
  10. GOOGLE ALERTS & ANALYTICS — on your website so you can identify what works and repeat it, as well as what does not, so you can eliminate it and focus on true success

Facebook Unveils E-mail

Very exciting announcement by Facebook. They’ve built the most popular website beating even Google, but will people trust it for their email?

So Facebook has debuted a sweeping messaging system–in the works for 15 months, according to Zuckerberg–that pulls in multiple channels of communication from across Facebook as well as other platforms, allowing for faster, shorter, and more real-time forms of messaging as well as Facebook's existing messaging service and chat client. Facebook messaging and chat are used by 350 million of Facebook's 500 million-plus active users around the world, and with 4 billion messages sent per day.

“Engaging Presentation”

Mayor Larry O’Connor writes…

On April 16, the BEDAC – together with staff from the Durham Region Economic Development department – hosted its first event, a Social Media Boot Camp. Brock High School offered up a classroom as the prefect venue for the workshop. Thirty local businesspeople came to find out what social media is, who’s using it and how to automate their communications to take advantage of social media spaces such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.

Sue Sutcliffe, owner of ‘The Web Coach,’ shared her nine steps to a successful social media campaign, offered tips on how to manage your social media profile efficiently and tricks to make it as easy as sending an e-mail. Her presentation was so engaging that our local business owners kept her going for an extra 45 minutes.
