Health & Fitness Seminar To Raise Funds For the Heart & Stroke Foundation
Clarington, ON- On February 26 from 7-9pm, at Newcastle Public School, five leading Clarington health, fitness and personal care professionals will deliver the seminar, ‘How to Make 2009 Your Healthiest and Best Year Ever,’ as a community awareness and fundraising event for the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Please visit the website for the Clarington Challenge http://www.claringtonchallenge2009.com for information on the event. I am one of the presenters that evening.

There are opportunities to have a SHOWCASE table at the event. If you are looking to really connect with the residents of Clarington, this is a great chance to do it. We are anticipating over 100 attendees…. Hopefully more – please spread the word!

Oshawa Durham Symphony Orchestra (ODSO) Needs Your Help!

The Oshawa Durham Symphony Orchestra (www.ODSO.ca) is starting it’s 2009 Fundraising drive. I know many of you have experienced the ODSO in one way or another through concerts, events, golf tournaments etc and appreciate how important this symphony is to Durham Region for the past 52 years.

Unfortunately, with the economic downturn our donations are down considerably this year to the point of possibly cancelling the season.

We need your assistance again to ensure the sustainability of the ODSO in Durham. As a special incentive this year for a donation of $1000 dollars you will receive a season pass for 2 for the 2009 season as well as a membership in the ODSO Patrons Club which includes 2 evening dinner events with Marco Parisotto and the Board of Directors in addition to a private reception during the concerts.

What do you say. Can you help OSDO?

Ballroom Dance is back at The Cedar Beach Pavilion!

79 Years in the Making
The Cedar Beach Pavilion is now more than a summer time fun place

In the summer of 1929 the Davies Family opened the Cedar Beach Pavilion primarily as a dance hall. People flocked from Detroit, Niagara, Toronto and beyond to dance to the big bands of the day on the sprung hardwood floor. The Pavilion still boasts the original floor and ballroom dancing is back at the Pavilion in a big way with weekly dance lessons, practice sessions and social dances.

Traditionally Cedar Beach has been a summer only restaurant and hall, this year that changes. With the new management team of Dianne and Dave Palachik, the newly renovated licenced restaurant and Pavilion will be open during the winter.

“We’re excited to be able to offer the Pavilion for rent this winter”, say Manager, Dianne Palachik. “The building is rich with history and is well cared for, the perfect place for any gathering”.

The Pavilion is available for business meetings, family celebrations, fundraising events, parties and more. The hall has a capacity of 450. There is on-site catering, technical support and event management available.

This year, the Cedar Beach Grill, a fully licenced family style restaurant will also be open providing great food, live entertainment and beer on tap. For more information or to book the hall contact Dianne or Dave at 905-642-6421.
