Facebook adds chronological sort option for administrators.

Congrats to @MariSmith for getting the scoop again…

Ta-da!! Facebook adds option for chronological posts on fan Pages!! Admins rejoice!

Happy Dance!! ♫♪♫ Facebook added an option to view Page walls in chronological order. Thing is, I’m not seeing a way for Admins to set the default – looks like the default is Top Posts (popularity order, just like our News Feed). But, everyone who visits your Page can select their own filter default. (Plus, Admins still have the usual two choices for default wall setting: All posts or Only posts by Page. Of course, I recommend All posts – to be more inclusive and encourage more engagement.)

Try this on Facebook… Use Facebook as the Page You Admin

To use Facebook as the Page you admin:

  1. Expand the Account drop-down menu located at the top right corner of Facebook.
  2. Select “Use Facebook as Page.”
  3. Click the “Switch” button next to the Page you’d like to log in as.

All actions that you take while using Facebook as your Page will appear on Facebook as coming from your Page. For example, if Jane comments on a photo while she’s using Facebook as Jane’s Pet Shop Page, then the comment will appear from Jane’s Pet shop, and not from Jane herself.

You will:

  • Receive red on-site notifications about new people who like your Page.
  • Receive red on-site notifications and email notifications about people who comment and post on your Page.
  • View a News Feed for your Page. This News Feed will be populated with stories about your Page and stories about other Pages you like.
  • Like other Pages and comment on posts by these Pages.

FACEBOOK: How are Pages different from Groups?

How are Pages different from Groups?

Pages can only be created to represent a real organization, business, celebrity, or band, and may only be created by an official representative of that entity. Groups can be created by anyone and about any topic, as a space for people to share their opinions and interest in that subject. Groups can be kept closed or secret, whereas Pages are intended to help an entity communicate publicly.

Pages also allow people to maintain a personal-professional distinction on Facebook. If you're a group admin, your name will appear on that group, while Pages will never display their admins' names. Additionally, when you take actions on your group, such as posting on your group's Wall, these actions will appear to come from you as an individual. However, if you post or take other actions on a Page you own, it will appear to come from the Page.

Groups are generally meant for smaller groups of people you know personally, and have limiting functions in place when the group members exceed a certain number. Pages are intended to be a place for organizations, businesses, celebrities, or bands to connect with users who like them. You can create a Page here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php or create a group from the “Create Group” link on the left hand navigation of your home page.

Do You Think Facebook is Unstoppable?

If there is to be a moment in Facebook’s history when it will be remembered at its prime, 2011 may turn out to be that moment. Expected to surge past 600 million members, and possibly 700 million before year end, revenue expected to grow beyond $3 billion this year, a valuation of $50 billion and growing, and it’s once only domestic competitor on the verge of implosion, Facebook appears to be unstoppable.

Everyone gets Facebook Timeline December 21, 2011

When you switch to the new Facebook Timeline , one of the first new features you’ll see is the ability to add a large “Cover” image. You’ll also be able to see the Cover images of all other Facebook users who have switched to the new Timeline. (After December 21st, everyone on Facebook will have their profile replaced with Timeline ).

To friend or not to friend. That is the question.

Building business relationships today involves more than a handshake and a business card. It often continues, or even begins, with social media. Instead of a one-off encounter, like-minded folks connect — and stay connected — using  Facebook and other social media platforms.
