How to brand your LinkedIn URL? (2017)

Why be a number? Follow these six steps and brand your LinkedIn profile

LinkedIn

LinkedInWhen you sign up for a LinkedIn account — many of you did this by clicking on a link in an email — LinkedIn arbitrarily assigns you a URL (Universal Resource Location) with a number e.g. https://www.linkedin.com/in/028258329.  I don’t like just being a number and find them hard to remember, so when I saw the option to customize (or brand) my LinkedIn profile URL I jumped at it and ended up with a url with my name in it e.g. www.linkedin.com/in/suesutcliffe

This is a quick and easy customization to make and improves your professionalism so thought I’d share the six easy steps so you can do it yourself!

  1. Login to LinkedIn
  2. Click on your picture (or where your picture should be) top right of screen
  3. Click on “View Profile”
  4. Click on “Edit Your Public Profile” (top right quadrant)
  5. Under the “Edit public profile URL” click on the pencil beside your ‘numbered’ url
  6. Change the number to your chosen brand and click save
