This week in social media…
In addition to last week’s early holiday gift – private boards – Pinterest has introduced BUSINESS ACCOUNTS. Convert an existing profile or register a new account as a business. Pinterest offers great support documentation to walk you through the changes, as well as detailed case studies from their beta testers.
These accounts also boast more buttons – including the profile and board widgets (which embed Pinterest shots on your website!) – as well as offering the website verification tool, which declares your site to be the real McCoy. And according to Pinterest, this is just the first step. Expect a further roll-out of business-geared tools and features in the near future!
Have you been missing out on the latest news from your fave pages? Facebook’s recent changes to newsfeed content algorithms have been making waves, but it may be smooth sailing for profiles users.
The new “Pages Feed” feature appears in Facebook’s left-hand menu under “Pages.” Clicking it gives users access to a “Pages-I’m-Following”-only newsfeed. This is a great way to check in with your top Facebook pages without either flooding your main newsfeed or missing key updates.
Ever found fantastic Twitter content that would be perfect for a friend or colleague, but couldn’t pass it on because they weren’t on Twitter. Worry not: Twitter’s new “Email Tweet” button lets you keep your non-Tweeps in the loop too. Slotted beside the “Reply,” “Retweet” and “Favourite” buttons, just hit “More” to forward a top-calibre tweet on to your email pals. This feature rolls out over November, so keep an eye on your Twitter layout.
