Where do you do social networking?

oseb-social-media-survey-xlsThanks to the team at Essential Communications for hosting yet another wonderful Success Night, and to Jason Dasti, Guerilla Marketers for a fun introduction to Social Media which inspired Peter Miller to poll the audience on how they socialized!  The poll showed…

83% of people polled use Facebook

50% of people polled use LinkedIn

Do YOU want to improve the relationship you have with your customers and prospects and touch them more often?

Are YOU losing market share to your competitors or because of the recession?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, social networking spaces are a quick and easy way to meet your goals.   First poll your audience – good customers, prospects and competitors – and find out where they like to network. Secondly design/implement a social media campaign that includes value for your VIPs in those spaces. Third, schedule time to ‘be present’ and network with your VIPs.  Do this, and  just like traditional networking enviroments your seeds will grow you and you will reap the rewards!

I’d love to hear about your social networking experiences. Where do you network? Facebook?   LinkedIn?    Youtube?    Blogging?   Twitter?
If so, look for me so we can connect!

  5. Traditional face to face networking has always been #1 for myself. I look at Social "NETWORKING" as a tool to communicate with your community beyond the trade shows, Chamber meetings, etc. Facebook is top on my list because most people have an account. On the other hand, social "MEDIA" tool such as twitter, blogs, youtube, flickr, etc. provide the opportunity to mobilize a community and create powerful PR campaigns that generate buzz.

  7. Cindy,

Very sorry for the time it's taken me to response. Business has been booming since the recession hit, and somehow I missed this post!

in answer to your question, my daily use of social media tools – especially facebook has generated sales because Facebook turned my friends/associates into more effective sales representatives because it educated them and allowed them to understand what I do.

That same transparency has allowed me to see/grab opportunities to network with my friend's friends, and for them to see me, form an opinion and contact me when there's a fit.

I got on facebook so I could see pictures, but I keep going back because it's been very effective warm lead generator. Most of my customers are amazing tradtional marketers, but don't immediately understand the opportunities that social media offers, or how to tie it together. Facebook keeps me in the know about what they are doing, and it's easy to coach them on best ways to leverage these opportunities. My customers appreciate this and try harder to refer business back to me – what goes around comes around.

Hope this helps and will look for you on LinkedIn.

    Sue 🙂
