Within hours of learning of the Shellshock bug, our system administrators had done an upgrade to all our web servers to ensure that your online data is protected.
Unfortunately, this nasty bug can affect home computers, and most notably Apple computers which tend to be protected by virtue of their relatively low market share and secure platform. Apple is expected to release an update soon which will solve this vulnerability.
As usual, the best way to protect yourself is to practice safe computer habits.
- Ensure your virus scanner is up-to-date and run regularly.
- Be careful what you download and install
- Update passwords frequently, and use different, strong passwords for your various accounts.
