9 Ways to Engage Guests Before A Virtual Event

Wouldn't it be good if you could change event 'engagement' level like you do the volume or temperature in your car?
  1. INVITE PEOPLE
    1. EVENT TEAM – Presenters, sponsors, partners and suppliers
    2. YOUR LIST – Email the people on your list
    3. PAST ATTENDEES – Ask people who attended last year to save the date and invite their friends.
    4. PEOPLE YOU CORRESPOND WITH – Add to your signature
    5. SOCIAL MEDIA FRIENDS & FANS — Create event pages where ideal guests socializes or network for business
  2. ENGAGE YOUR EVENT TEAM
    1. Ask presenters, sponsors, partners and suppliers to invite people, providing swipe file and media they can use to make it easy.
    2. Mention and tag presenters, sponsors, partners and suppliers on brand and event pages.
    3. Invite presenters, sponsors, partners and suppliers to be Facebook Event Hosts so that the event can also be on their Facebook page.
    4. Add presenters to the LinkedIn event page and ask them to share and invite people, providing directions, sample media, and text to make it easy.
    5. Provide swipe file and media that makes sharing easy.
  3. FOLLOW-UP ON INVITES
    1. Follow up with guests so they don’t miss out.
    2. Adding content to the event page you’ve invited them to on Facebook will bring that page up in their feed again.
    3. Focus on peaking their interest in the value, and always include the registration link.
    4. Consider paid advertising and other ways to ensure the guest sees and registers for the event, as most people don’t buy the first time they learn of an event.
  4. CALENDAR – Make it easy for guests to register and prompt them to get the event on their calendar.
  5. CREATE SOCIAL MEDIA BUZZ – Drip content to encourage guests to register, share with their friends and engage in other ways. Most people won’t buy something the first time, so ensure your plan ensures they see it many times. Highlight and tag your event team – especially your sponsors. Here are some ideas to get you started:
    1. Save the date
    2. Announce the date and time.
    3. Practice Sessions make for a better event and often catch tech and branding issues. They also give a behind-the-scenes look at your event in the planning. Be sure to mention or tag attendees and leverage media, of course.
    4. Behind the scenes
    5. Highlight the reel from the last event.
    6. Highlight and tag event partners tied to value, or it doesn’t appear as an ‘ad’ on their social media page.
