When you sign up for a LinkedIn account — many of you did this by clicking on a link in an email — LinkedIn arbitrarily assigns you a URL (Universal Resource Location) with a number e.g. https://www.linkedin.com/in/028258329. I don’t like just being a number and find them hard to remember, so when I saw the option to customize (or brand) my LinkedIn profile URL I jumped at it and ended up with a url with my name in it e.g. www.linkedin.com/in/suesutcliffe
This is a quick and easy customization to make and improves your professionalism so thought I’d share the six easy steps so you can do it yourself!
- Login to LinkedIn
- Click on your picture (or where your picture should be) top right of screen
- Click on “View Profile”
- Click on “Edit Your Public Profile” (top right quadrant)
- Under the “Edit public profile URL” click on the pencil beside your ‘numbered’ url
- Change the number to your chosen brand and click save
