I held Mom’s hand throughout her end of life and when she completed her last breath, I knew, without doubt, that a squeeze of her hand would not bring her back this time, although I did it anyway. Instead of a breath she smiled, and I knew she made it to Heaven and saw Dad, when her lip turned up as if to smile (and hadn’t done that for over two weeks!
